The Norwegian Armed Forces are divided into the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Home Guard. In all 14 different departments.

Norway's defense is based on general military duty. Around 8,000 young women and men serve first time in the Armed Forces each year.

The top military leader is the Chief of Defence. In addition to this, the Chief is also the Minister of Defence's top military adviser.
