The ice service in Norway

The ice service provides information about ice conditions, and is part of the NCA's services.

The ice service has two main tasks:

  1. Provide shipping with updated information on ice conditions in Norwegian waters from the Swedish border to Kristiansand.
  2. Icebreaking in primary and secondary fairways outside harbours. Ice reports are available and updated at kystverket.no from December 1st to March 31st.
